The Missing Method for Guitar Note Reading Series

The Missing Method for Guitar

What's New?

From Tenterhook Books comes a new guitar method book series unlike anything currently available: The Missing Method for Guitar Note Reading Series. Join the guitar elite.

Author and guitarist Christian Triola has taken a new approach to learning how to read guitar music. Many guitar method books give you only a sampling of how to read guitar music, but never everything you need to be able to learn the whole neck. The Missing MethodTM for Guitar Note Reading Series does just that, teaching you step-by-step how to read and learn your fretboard from the open strings to the very last fret.

Having taught guitar for over 15 years, this is something that Christian has seen a need for.  He came up with the idea in college while majoring in jazz guitar. He could read the open position with ease, but the rest of the neck was a landscape of lucky guess. So he started writing his own method book that helped him learn the rest of the neck, and now he wants to share what he learned with anyone who wants to end the “guitar players can’t read” stigma.

Everyone Involved

The contents of each book in the series was written by Christian. The design and layout of the book was done by his wife Amy Joy. The photographs used in the book were taken by Amy Joy and Scott Maclean.

Where can I get it?

The Missing MethodTM for Guitar Note Reading Series Books 1-3 are currently available from Amazon. The last two books in the series will be available later this summer.

Christian's Story

I wanted to play piano, but my parents had an old guitar that had been sitting in corners and under beds for years, collecting dents and dust. So instead of piano, they had the guitar restrung, and the next thing I knew, I was seated in a tiny room next to an equally small Italian guy, guitar in my lap. After my first lesson, I forgot about the piano. Years later, after a music degree, gigs, concerts and the like, I teach guitar, and have been doing so for over 15 years. I have found that a lot of guitar players want to read music, but they don’t know how to get past the open position, and if they do, they are never confident in their reading. So I developed an idea I had in college to address this problem and it became The Missing MethodTM for Guitar Note Reading Series.
